Location: Hyderabad

Qualification: B.LIC, M.LIC (OR) Master's Degree in Library Science/Information Science (Preference would be given to candidates having prior experience as Chief Librarian however candidates without prior experience can also apply)

Job Description:

  • Mentor and supervise the library staff.
  • Operate and train the LYBSIS software for managing the library resources.
  • Advise senior management and other colleagues on policies for the provision of learning resources across the curriculum.
  • Support the educational aims and objectives of the school and monitor the effectiveness of the Library's contribution to learning and teaching.
  • Mediate between learners and resources to enable learners to identify, locate and access the information they need.
  • Lead the teaching of transferable information, learning and knowledge access skills which are the core skills of independent lifelong learning.
  • Manage and promote a wide range of resources in a variety of formats, traditional and electronic, and where appropriate, the equipment to access them.
  • Promote the development of reading and literacy skills for information and recreation and take a lead in creating a whole-school environment which encourages reading for pleasure.
  • Manage a study environment for both curriculum-based and independent learning. This involves the management and integration of both physical areas and virtual learning environments to create positive learning spaces. This involves maintaining discipline in the library.
  • Participate in school improvement through attending the regular cycle of meetings with senior staff.
  • Collaborate with feeder primary schools to support transition between Primary/Secondary School.
  • Develop information literacy strategies to support research at Senior School level.
  • Work with Career counselor in setting up Careers section in the library
  • Managing online Information database (like EBSCO) subscription and training of staff/students for better use of the database.
  • Subscription of periodicals and journals for the library as well as profession
  • Work with the IT department to create and maintain a Library intranet site.
  • Guide and take classes on research methodology and referencing for Senior classes.
  • Support students learning and curriculum needs. Ensure that the library supports all aspects of every student's development.
  • Enable teaching staff to maintain a high level of awareness of professional development and relevant resources through the provision of appropriate professional materials and information.
  • Setup a new Modern Information Resource Center which includes books and audio visual aid.
  • Identifying (through staff, online, suppliers, IBO, CBSE, CIE, other libraries, etc) and procuring resource for the new library.
  • Protecting the resources from theft, wearing out etc by taking appropriate proactive steps.
  • Putting up proposal for Library Budget and negotiate for the same.
  •  Maintain archives of both soft copy (in CD form) and hard copy of examination papers.
