Number of positions: 1

Consolidated Stipend per month: Rs. 10000/-

Position required to be filled for period of months - 12 months

Maximum age as on date of interview: 25 yrs

Essential qualification: Degree in Library & Information Science

Job requirement: To assist in implementation of library automation software "KOHA" and other library activities. It includes cataloging, data migration, data validation, indexing, etc.

The CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO) with its headquarters at Dona Paula, Goa, and regional centers at Kochi, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam, is one of the 38 constituent laboratories of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. The institute has about 200 scientists and 100 technical support staff. In addition, there are hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate students pursue their project research at this institute every year. With the largest collection of ocean scientists in the country, and equipped with suitable ocean research infrastructure, NIO serves as an advanced center of education in ocean sciences.

The NIO library has been recognized as the National Information Centre for Marine Sciences (NICMAS) since mid 90s. While catering to the needs of the users from within the institute, it is also committed to serve the marine information seekers within and outside India. Most of the operations in the library have been computerized.
