Group/Project Overview:Fidelity Brokerage Company (FBC) provides a wide range of brokerageproducts, solutions and services to retail and institutional investors,as well as to third-party intermediaries. Our group i.e. FBSI providesbrokerage services to Fidelity and its clients to process trades and to view detailed information about a customers brokerage account.Designation Library Manager- Fidelity Business Services Pvt Ltd (forFCAT Asia).

Job Description PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE:
  • The Library Manager will establish and develop the FCAT Asia Libraryto support the information needs of IT staff in India and worldwide.This position will be responsible for strategic research projects,electronic delivery of information, and access to research tools.
  • Support FCAT R&D innovation by investigating Asia-based newtechnologies and startup tech companies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend information tools and researchsources that have a focus on India/Asia regions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management: Establish and support an FCAT Asia research library inBangalore, focused on IT and telecom technologies. Identify, acquireand organize materials; manage space and facilities; communicate withusers to identify needs and to provide training assistance in usinglocal and remote (Boston-based) resources. Library will support staffdevelopment and retention, and enhanced productivity and innovation dueto better access to information.
  • Research: Provide custom research for global IT staff using print andelectronic tools. Develop expertise in areas of interest to India-basedstaff and be the key resource for India- and Asia-related researchquestions. Research will enhance decision-making and provide awarenessof best practices and technology innovations.
  • Marketing and Communications: Develop contacts within Fidelity Indiato advertise new products/services, target teleconferences, solicitfeedback, etc. Focal point for FCAT Briefing Center to foster use ofFCAT video on demand, identify requirements for new programs, provideinput from India/Asia perspective. Be able to demonstrate ResearchServices tools and explain RS services and products. Participateactively with U.S. staff in evaluating new products and services, andcoordinate testing by pilot groups in India. The goals are closealignment with the needs of IT staff in India and Asia, and delivery oftools and information via appropriate media.
  • Sourcing: Identify sources of IT and business information for Indiaand Asia, preferably online. Collaborate closely with US-based staff toevaluate and integrate new tools into library as business needsindicate. Evaluate need for physical book collection to serve the Indiadevelopment community vs access to electronic books. Establishrelationships with suppliers. Local sourcing of technology informationwill supplement what is available from the U.S. and will make regionalinformation available to Boston-based staff.
  • Tracking Innovation: Investigate sources of information about ITstartups, new technologies, innovative use of technology in India andAsia. Provide information and contacts to FCAT R&D staff forevaluation. Library Manager will be a key on the ground resource forinnovations coming from this region.
  • Web Support: Provide content for targeted offshore employee RS webpage, highlighting local events and resources.? Maintain web page usingDreamweaver. Goal is to give users a single launch point for currentinformation and announcements.

Professional Development: Make contact with other special libraries;look for opportunities to share information. Participate in regionalprograms and continuing education events. Connect with leading libraryschools to keep abreast of best practices, sponsor graduate internsfrom local library graduate schools. Support Fidelitys reputation as aleader in using technology to deliver the best user services and inenhancing our profession by developing the best new libraryprofessionals.

PROBLEM SOLVING:The Library Manager will be responsible for the Bangalore library andmake operational decisions on their own, in line with values andprocedures of Research Services. They are expected to take an activerole in managing projects, contributing ideas and decision-making aspart of the Research Services team.As a member of the FCAT India team, the Library Manager will becollaborating with FCAT India Research team and providing directresearch support.This position will report to the VP of Research Services and willcollaborate on a daily basis with the FCAT Research Services U.S basedstaff.

Desired Profile Education and Experience

  • Education: Master of Library Science
  • Experience: Fifteen years in an IT organization or related experiencein financial services, business

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and technicalstaff
  • Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Commitment to sharing ideas and active participation on the ResearchServices team
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, Internet resources
  • Deliver presentations
  • Excellent organizational ability

Project management:Fluency in English required both verbal and written due to frequentinteraction with U.S. staff

Working Conditions:Occasional travel to the United States.Weekly meetings with U.S. based staff after hours will be required.Usual office working conditions.
